Randall Jahnson

King of the Hill

Production Notes

Shot over the weekend of May 23 & 24, 1985, at Friendship Park, San Pedro, CA, the band's home turf.

John Hart was behind the Ikegame video camera; Becca Boss produced it, assisted by Geoff Geoffrey; edited by Dan Duncan

Jahnson: "Friendship Park lived up to its name that weekend as the Minutemen - and the crew and I - invited friends and family to participate in the video. That's Dez Cadena, formerly of Black Flag and DC3, tying the blindfolds. Black Flag/SST honcho Chuck Dukowski is under the Mr. T mask in the crowd. "Crane" is on trumpet.

"On Sunday we brought in a Steadicam operator & camera so we could follow the de-throned d. boon rolling down the hill. We did two takes; in each one d. rolled continuously for at least 150 yards. I thought he was never gonna stop.

"MTV declined to air the video. The network told Joe Carducci, who was running SST records at the time, that it contained 'too much grass and dirt.'"
