Blue Yonder Sounds
Blue Yonder Sounds was a mini-indie record label operating in Los Angeles from 1987-1989.
Inspired by SST, Happy Squid, New Alliance, Independent Project Records, and other indie labels, Blue Yonder Sounds was started by screenwriter-music enthusiast J. Randal Johnson (now Randall Jahnson) and assisted by Seattle-transplant Dennis White.
From its Pandora's Box-like Westwood garage HQ, the label unleashed four full-length albums to the world. They remain a colorful cavalcade of the eclectic and inimitable creativity flourishing in LA at that time.
